The Institute is sponsored by Govt. of India, Ministry of Tourism & Govt. of Assam, Deptt. of Tourism and also affiliated to National Council for Hotel Management and Catering Technology, Noida. It offers 11/2 year diploma courses in five disciplines which are recognized throughout the country as well as abroad.

The Institute has been set up with joint assistance from the Ministry of Tourism, Govt. of India and Deptt. of Tourism, Govt. of Assam with a view to train & develop skilled manpower for the evergrowing Hospitality Industry.
These courses are all professional and job oriented as immediately after completion of the course the students can get employment in the hospitality industry
The students will have access to the latest technological appliances and specialized practical courses which will equip them with professional and operational skills. This in turn facilitates them while coping with the demands of the hotel industry when they go there for their 6 months mandatory industry exposure after completing 1 year of classroom studies. The scope of employment is immense especially when India is expected to add around 10 million jobs in the Tourism Industry by 2028, according to World Travel and Tourism Council (WTTC).After completion of the course the students can get employment in various segments of the hospitality industry across the country as well as abroad in Hotels, Caterings, Corporate Houses, Hospitals, Cruiseliners, Railways and Airlines, Oil & Gas Companies, Mnc., Call Centers etc.
